Peter Hales says
"I worked at GEC Newcastle for many years, and spent many more in engineering before coming to Canada in 1982. Now retired and living on Vancouver Island. Still have many good memories of that School.

Some of my class Names:- Archer (2) Batkin, Bennison, Bevans, Birks, Bowen, Woodcock, Wilson, Thompson, Rochelle, Tunstall, Croton, Palmer, Colclough, Statham, Randall, Edwards, Cox, (20 out of 26). Also remember Reg Tunner from the previous year.

Masters I recall:- Collinson (Head), Potts (New Head), Mills, Thomas, Kent, Three Taylors, Metalwork, Geography / Chess!!!, History, Williams.

Vivid memories:- Playing soccer on that sloping field, did this become the new school site? Showers after games, (throwing buckets of ice cold water over each other.) The billiard hall at the back of the Moorland Road Cafe(out of bounds). Weapons of Choice, Mills:- 24" Rubber tube, Thomas:- size 13 pump, most of the rest:- 2" machine belting, length to suit individual taste! Nevertheless we had a great deal of respect for all the teaching staff, they gave us the best possible start to our engineering careers."
